Hey everyone,

I love fish keeping, been doing it for about 7 years. I have a 55 gal with mbuna cichlids, a 29 gal with 3 platys, 1 synodontis (featherfin) catfish, a pleco, 9 dwarf puffers and 4 baby kenyi cichlids-(whom will come out of there when they get about an inch long). Kenyi are very mean and I traded my others to the lfs for a figure 8 puffer. He will be by himself. Right now he is in a 10 gal with an algea eater, fresh water. I would appreciate any help ya'll could give me on gradually changing my 10 gal. to brackish, never had a brackish tank before. Only puffer experience is with the dwarf freshwater.

Thanks and glad to meet ya'll,
lovesfish

welcome!

I recommend a slow, steady rise in salinity to about 1.005 (you can measure saliniy by buying a hydrometer/refractometer, the former is cheaper but the latter is more reliable and lasts longer) over a period of about 2 weeks.

also, plecos (assuming you have the bog standard one) and algae eaters (a least the chinese ones) can eventually attain large size, commons plecos get around 18- 26 inches and chinese algae eaters usually get about 10-12 inches. you will also need to lose the algae eater if you want to make your aquarium brackish.
