When I always see them in the store they move real slow and seem to just stay quite still. I have two new discus and after the first day of spending most of the time hiding in the plants but on day two they started to come out more, but later in the evening they began swimming fast and weaving in and out of the plants almost like they were playing. I just never saw them move so fast. This OK?

discus will cruize thru the tank..and at time very quickly.

they will also chase each other at times and chase other fish away.
but I find that some are more active than others.

My discus still hide a lot and when I walk by they hide. They come out when its feeding time and sometimes I catch them racing each other back and forth. Just seems strange.

my discus are pretty active, swimming around during the day. They tend to cower when traffic comes through (the tank is in the living room), but when it's quiet, they all go back to cruising the tank. When I stick my face to the side of the tank, they always come right up to the side to see me. I always thought that was cool.

Mine are new, only a week. And maybe because I've done some planting and water changes recently they may be scared of me from having my hands in the tank a lot. That picture you have is a great looking discus. I have one blue with a nice black dorsal fin and I think its a pigeon blood. Its orange with redish fins/black tips and black freckles. both about 3inch.
