Been having a good Google and begining to believe these are Aiptasia bad guys too. They don't look the same as the large one that is soon to be destroyed but thinking maybe they're same sort but different type.

Eight arms/tentacles, seem to be feeding off the light, dissapear when lights go out, seem to have grown quite quick.

Glad they're not bad guys. Should i be feeding them anything or do they live of the light? Whatever they're living off they're thriving...

i`d agree with Germanman as i have many different types of star polyps & a type i have look alot like that you can even get them almost black aswell
but common colours tend to be green brown yellow then white/black etc

they are mostly photosynthetic but will benefit from phytoplankton feeding.

are you sure? i wasnt aware that star polyps were able to injest phyto. they do use the nutrients once the phyto rots away and breaks down, but i dont believe they acatualy are able to injest it? They dont really have an intake of water to do so, nor a way of capturing it.

they are polyps polyps are mouths with tentacles they can eat but they just primaraly depend on light. mine eat all the time i spray the phytoplankton in the water and when it gets to them the role in the tentacles and pull the food to the oral disk and then close and open when they are ready for more.
ive also observed feeding under my microscope as well.
