i have a general salt water aquarium question. lets say, you have to empty your tank for whatever reason. what do you do with the fish? are salt water fish more fragile than freshwater fish? with freshwater fish, you can transfer them to a bowl or whatever just to clean the tank. what do you do with salt water fish? they need the heat and special surroundings. you can't exactly put them in a bowl while cleaning.

any help on this?

well, i helped a friend move the contents of an existing tank over to his new one...Basically, syphoned out half the water and put this in a rubbermaid container, put a powerhead and heater in there..Netted the fish and put them in there....

When we come to move all the live rock and corals, we scrubbed the bath with water and white vinegar and cleaned it ( this done before hand of course ), filled it with saltwater and a powerhead and stored it all in there...

It all depends on how long the fish are going to be out of the tank for i suppose...If its only going to be like half an hour, you coulld just syphon some tank water into a fish safe bucket and and put the fish in there, but dont over crowd. I would suggest just a couple per 2 gallon bucket...

Hope this helps a little
