For the most part I have heard that both neons and cardinals are the angelfish's natural food source in the wild, but some people say that cardinals are too big for an angelfish to eat. I thought that even a full grown cardinal was small enough for an angelfish to eat. What is your opinion?

it depends on the individual fish. some angels will grow larger than others, and some cardinals will stay smaller than others. personnally, i would not risk having cardinals with angels because there is the chance that the angels will be able to eat them, or try to eat them, whcih can result in the death of the cardinal and the angel.

I have gone for almost a year with Cardinals and Angels in a 55 gallon. The Cards are about 1.5 to 2 inches long and the Angels are over 6 inches tall and 4 inches long. I think the trick is to introduce the Cardinals and the Angels when both are small and allow them to grow up together. I have never seen my Angels even attempt to eat a Cardinal and I believe this is the reason why.

The trick is to be sure the cards are too big to fit in the angels mouth.
