I have 4 german blue rams in my 29 gallon hoping to maybe get a pair. I've had them for about 2 weeks now and all seem fine no pairing yet. One of them is obviously dominant hangs out on one side of the tank and chases the other three away.I believe that one is a female. I'm still new to the rams so im having trouble telling there sex.I know rams like warm water i keep my tank at about 80.What is a good temperature for tring to get them to spawn?
If all you have is rams in the tank, then you should try to keep the temp. at around 86 degrees Farenheit.

females will have a pink belly when they are ready to spawn.
you could try raising the temp to 82º, but be careful not to raise it to high

I keep my tank at 81 and my rams have laid eggs twice in the month I've had them.

Hi here is about an 80% possitive way of sexing rams look at the dark body patch if there is blue spangels in the body and in edges of the patch making it look jagged not circular it is a female. If the spangels are barely in the edges of the black spot and it looks prety circular and none in body it is a male.

Those are stunning rams.Thank you that did help somewhat. I now know that 2 of them are indeed female still unsure of the other 2.Do the males top rays get longer as they grow?

Thanks I am pretty proud of them. Yes the males 2nd and 3rd dorsal rays will get quite pronounced.

generally yes..they should grow.however, there are some morphs that do not have a distinguishing difference in the 2nd & 3rd dorsal rays.
alas..sometime you just have to wait until they pair up. and hope that it is a male/female bond.
