My oscar tried to jump through the canopy today and he got a fairly large gash on the top of his head. This isn't the first time and he always heals up in a few days but this is a really big and deep wound. He doesn't seem to even notice, he wants to play and is eating normally. Should I get some antibiotics or something else to keep it form getting infected?

stress coat, bio that, enzy this and with aloe and with vitamins and with minerals and with special enhancers, and herbs and spices and blah and blah. the store shelves are full of enough stuff to bankrupt you if you've got a mind to fall for all the hype. most if not all of it is crap which does nothing for your fish. NOTHING.

keep your water pristine, add 1 percent salt to the water (in solution) to mitigate the potential fluid loss from open wounds and let mom nature do her thing. probably 98% of such scrapes, bruises, wounds, etc. go away by themselves, just like those that you get.

many people will say " hey, my fish had this torn fin and i used Torn Fins Be gone and it healed up in two days. sure .. and it would have healed up just the same without torn fins be gone or whathaveyou. save your money.

My JD's are always getting cuts from running into the tank tops (they are peaceful, mellow fish for the most part, but every so often will go on a wild tear around the tank). Cuts heal up in a day or two.

Thanks for the help guy but I have one more question. How much is 1%? It's a 100 gallon tank so how many table spoons should I put in?
