Skimmer Question for my Cousin

My Cousin has a 30 gallon reef that he wants to get a protien skimmer for but he does not want to spend a tun of money... It needs to be a backpack kind since he does not have a sump....

Any ideas that I should tell him?

you could look at something like a cpr-bakpak or ViaAqua Regular smimmer ( not the all in one model )..

Couple there to look at mate..

I got a ViaAqua deluxe one ( second hand ). Can't say i'd recommend it. It does the job but don't think it's the best at it. Don't think it skims the surface water very good and the instruction booklet explains nothing, they might as well not bother wasting the paper it was printed on.
