I just set up my 5g tank for my betta. The smallest heater I could find is a 50w, Its a Tetra submersibe Heater. Has; electrinic thermostat that automatically maintains water temp at 78f. It says up to 10g on the box. Would it be okay for my 5g?

I use a 100 watt heater in my 5 gallon with no problems...there's just a greater risk of cooking the fish faster if the heater ever decides to malfunction.

I have not heard good things about the Tetra heaters, so I'd be wary of that particular brand in a small tank.

Okay, I will pop it in then. I will be on the look out. It has a 2 year warranty and there is always someone awake in my house, so if a prob occurs it will most likely be discovered quickly.
