what are people's experiences with these guys? i understand they prefer a stronger current and slightly cooler temps compared to other similar cats...i have one in such a setup, and he's doing really well. i'm curious about their sociability. are these territorial like common plecos at all, or do they prefer being kept in groups? if so, how large a group?
mine will chase other plecs out of his territiory.

the one i have is doing quite well, i am thinking i will probably just keep him as is, because he seems happy. no point in messing with something that's working unless there's an overpowering outpouring of dissent!
anyways, this seems right, i did some net research, and it seems several sites agree that they may quarrel with conspecifics. he's only in a 20L, so there's no way there's enough territory for multiples if they have similar temperments to the common plecs...
as always, i was just curious!

I know they like colder water and, they are not too great at eating algea
they are not too great at eating algea
i would disagree. bulldog plecos can be quite good algae eaters, some are just to chicken to clean the glass and would rather clean the rest of the tank.

yea, mine consumes algae off rocks in the tank like it's the greatest treat on earth.
