Before you say go to your LFS notice this is the true Ocellatus oscar notice the ocelli in the dorsal fin. The site I got this pic from has them but no longer sells them due to the fact that they cant get a cheap and dependable shipper. Heres the pic. Did you know theres three oscars known to man??? Hey you learn something knew every day.

But there not ocellatus he has a pic of them and its not ocellatus there orbiculatus. I was looking up info and finally understood what the hell my book was talking about. Ocellatus has ocelli in both the tail and dorsal fin orbiculatus only has an ocelli in the tail and crasp has stripes doesnt get as big and also only has the ocelli on tail. Its all in a book I have. I want all three rapps has to just need the last one.

I'd argue that those lines aren't so clearly defined now. All three of those fish are similar and probably have been interbred over the years. And fish that have only small ocellatus will (could) have been bred throughout the decades to have prominent ones when their wild bretheren haven't. Artificial natural selection could skew your search. Try trade shows. There's gotta be a million in Cali.

No well ok Jeff Rapps Has 2 differant wild forms There just this on I cant find. They are indeed three differant species doubt theyve been inbreed in the wild this is where the book determined that there was 3 differant oscars.

Astronotus ocellatus-wild 5-6” $35.00 Santarem oscar-bold pattern with bright red ocelli on caudal.

thats from his list, NOT from his pictures. The one listed on the stock list and the ones shown in the pictures arent the same fish nor do they represent each other. Shoot him an email and find out. cant hurt.

No prob just made sure I covered all the bases before I posted to make sure I dont get confused or feel like im wrong. I did my research just cant find the one oscar.
