I'm currently in the 2nd day of cycling a new freshwater aquarium, and I'm carefully cycling using several small fish (in a 55 long setup.) Well, this morning everything looks great, but the ammonia has crept up a bit (between .5 and 1.0), even after a 20% water change. With that in mind, should I use diamond blend crystals to reduce ammonia levels, or will that prohibit helpful bacteria from forming and thus keep my tank from cycling? BTW, I just started using Prime as well, which, combined with water changes, might be all I need to keep ammonia levels in check. But anyway, any help/info would be appreciated.
