I am taking a break from filling my 55g with a 2g bucket. (Getting a python soon!). And thought I would make a post here to see what others think about plants for it.

As I said, it's a 55g FW with sand substrate. I have 96w of 6500K over it and plan to have neon or cardinal tetras, bolivian or german blue rams, dwarf rainbows, cherry barbs and some cory cats (leopard if I can find them).

I plan to put quite a few plants in it. So, what is your suggestion for one or more of those plants? They need to be low or medium-low plants, of course, and, seeing as this is my first tank, easy to care for. I have several in mind, but would like to know what others think.

Thanks!

EDIT: Oh! I don't plan on using Co2 just yet. I might do a DIY for a few weeks, but once fish are in it, I will stop using it.

I have Bolbitis heudelotii (intricate and bushy), Cryptocoryne spiralis (nice bright green and tall and lower parts don't rot which is hard to find in low-light plants), Cryptocoryne wendtii 'red' (adds a splash of red color), Anubias barteri v. nana 'petite' (good foreground plant and grows faster than other anubias), and Taiwan moss growing like mad in similar lighting conditions (no fertilizer and no CO2). There are plenty of other plants that will also do well, but these are my suggestions.

Thanks!

I will take your suggestions and add them to my list. One or two of those were already on my list but the rest are really good looking plants to think about.

I guess the best I can do now is to take my list to a few different LFS and see what folks have in stock. I'm hopeful that they will have a decent selection of somewhat healthy plants at a decent price. Really cant see paying $2.99 plus $6.00 shipping for a plant online. When I might be able to buy it for $3.99 locally. Know what I mean?

Although, http://www.pets-warehouse.com/AquariumPlants.htm has some really decent prices.

Thanks again! And wish me luck!
