i've recently noticed one of my clown loaches looking terribly skinny. he still eats, not as much as usual, but he looks emaciated. i tried to look up information online about it and came across a few sites that mentioned 'skinny disease', some type of internal parasite. i couldnt find any definitive information about how to treat it, though.

all i've read is to treat the loach with maracyn for 10 days and feed him bloodworms, which i feed them on a regular basis anyway. also to put the infected loach in a hospital tank while being treated. would this be the correct way to go about making him better?
he just looks like he is starved. please reply and let me know so i can help to save this little guy. thanks.

i've made a thread on the Loaches Online Forum asking about this, but no one has replied to me yet.

ok, thanks. here is a post someone left on my thread i posted on loaches online that may also help

"I would try "ANTI-PARASITE" medicated fish food by " Jungle".
Active ingredients:metroniadazole 1.0% ,paraziquantel 0.5% ,levamisole 0.4%.
It was bought at Bigal and seem to be working on my 2 clown loaches which were suffering form skinny disease."

im going to the petstore right now to see what i can find. i hope your clown loach gets better also.

he was in a 55 gallon with one other clown loach, we've had him for a while, probably about 5 or 6 months and its just been recently that i've noticed him being very skinny, the other clown loach is fine, hes nice and plump. we're going to move the skinny one to a hospital tank and start a maracyn treatment (picked some up today).
