Stocking Question for Established Aquarium

Hello,

I have a 20 Gallon containing 7 Black Phantom Tetras and 2 Otocinclus. The tank is established and maintained for 6 months and all fish are healthy and water parameters are perfect. Would I be able to fit two male Dwarf gouramis without it being an overstocking issue? I do not want to put anymore fish in there after that. Also, will they get along with the tetras? Thanks!

I would go with just one. I have a DG with black skirts and red minors, no issues over the last 9 months.

However, I was told that Dwarf Gouramis like to be in at least pairs...no??

As far as I know, gouramis like to be alone or in groups. They should get along fine with tetras. As has already been said, two males is a very bad idea. A male and female isn't a great idea, because if they spawn, that could cause some serious aggression issues. Two females won't be as colorful. I think you're best just going with one male. Two might be overcrowding, and I think one will be happy enough on its own. :)
