is it possible to overlight???
what would happen if low light plants like java moss/ anubus nana got like 4 wpg?
thanks for any help

i guess you can say you can over light your tank. if your at a point where you have lighting that you can grow any plant then you add more i guess you can call it over lighting.

if you put a lot of light over those plants they should grow a lot faster.

lighting has many factors. tank size? what kind of lighting? how much lighting?

if your talking about a small 10 gal tank that might be ok lighting. if your talking about a 150 gal that is a lot of light.

yea its a 10 gal tank and i think im getting a 40wat pc or flourecent (idk the dif) light

I have read that in smaller tanks, a higher wpg is required. I cant elaborate more because I forgot the contents of the reading. But I'm sure someone can point you to it. I'm personally running 48w over a 10 gallon tank, and I wished for 60watts. I'm looking at really lush planting.

Too much light can cause the plants to grow so fast they use up all the CO2 in the tank. Any that survive this will drop their leaves, and grow back smaller/fewer new ones.

Of course, if you're supplying extra CO2 this isn't usually a problem.
