Better to buy in bulk? Or individually?

I heared that it's good to have alot of plants in your tank to combat the algae for nurtients. When I go to my LFS I usually only pick up 1 or 2 plants at a time. Should I buy larger quantities? or is buying individual plants still ok? (To combat algae)

It's easier to combat algae with a fully planted tank rather than a lightly planted tank. Stem/bunch plants are among the best at soaking up nutrients from the water column, which is where the algae also relies for nutrients.

If you had no plants in your tank I would add them all at once.

I believe it depends on the age and size of the tank, as well as the type of plants you buy. If you have a small tank, getting a couple bunches of fast growing plants like watersprite or Hygro. polysperma will help soak up nitrates and algae-loving nutrients.

However, if you have a brand new (or large) tank, I would definitely buy in bulk to nip an algae bloom in the bum before it can start.

Well, when my tax return comes in i was plannin on gettin a pressurized CO2 for my tank...i may go get some plants too....
