Several years ago there was a thread about cleaning RO TFC Membrane with an acid, not vinegar as some may propose. Yes, I do use the flush kit, but not regularly.

My 6 year old 60 gpd membrane is down to only 10 gpd now and I'm in need of some information on how to best unclog the membrane.

Some part of my brain suggests muriatic acid.

Please assist.

Membranes are pretty cheap and tend to only last 3 - 5 years as it is. I'd just buy a new one.

I tried to research my question before asking, and only found what you suggest. It sound like something a LFS would say to get you to buy another. I'm not buying this answer.

On my beer salary, I'm going to need to stretch the use of mine.

LOL... I understand what you're saying. Some further searching lead me to this article:

I don't know what brand of membrane you have, but that article seems more like what you're looking for.

Edit: If you suspect your membrane is clogged by carbonates, there's a specific procedure just for that...
