Hi everyone,
I have a VERY simple 6 UK gallon Newt Vivarium set up, with 2 Firebellied Newts. I filter it with a small Eheim Mini, tiny but a good wee filter! I have just a couple of plants, so I dont wan't to set up proper lighting tubes, so it is simply lit with a 25 watt reading light.
The simplest vivarium ever, but it does the job and the newts seem to be happy. ;)
Here's some pics:

I love taking photos of them, as they, unlike fish, don't swim away!

He looks like an old man in this one!

He was breathing against the glass, causing condensation, but didn't seem to realise what it was! :D

Yes, but thankfully my lfs has a variety of newts, I simply went to firebelly because I thought they were interesting. ;)
Thanks.

Thank you. They do have rather cute faces, making them a joy to photograph. Trust me, the photos you've seen are a mere fraction of the amount I've actually taken!

lol thanks. I'd certainly recommend them. ;)

What heater are you using? I have a spare elite 25Watt so would that do?

Kathryn

I don't heat the tank. They prefer quite cool water, so a heater is not necessary. :)

Awesome. They have FBN's at my LFS and FBT's (toads) can they be mixed together in the long run? Sometimes i see them together in the LFS but it might be taking out a rough toad or newt from the rest. I dont know. Whats their diet?

Hi. Thank you very much. ;)
I have been told that FBT and FBN's can be put together, but you should get someone to confirm that. :)
I feed them bloodworms, both live and frozen. :D

How often? Because i cant afford to feed them bloodwom everyday twice or even once. I get £10 a week for pocket money which may be alot for pocket money but in fishkeeping it doesnt go very far. Might get a job soon.

Just one cube once a week. Very inexpensive. ;)

cool. Do you put in a whole cube on some day and then a week later put in another one or do you cut up the cube and feed the bits at regulat intervules?

Kathryn

The frozen bloodworms come in cubes. Just use one of the cubes every week to feed them. :)
