Broke down at got a 55 gallon =/ 179 dollars with the 80 dollar stand. All black. Will take pics after the stuff is put together.. - the water and fish. Now that must open lots of options for good hardy peaceful fish. Any ideas?

Here are a couple pictures...

BTW... is the heater that comes with it good quality? It is a Hydor 200 Watt heater.

AND BTW... The tank stand/tank is sitting on carpet and rocks a bit... give it about an inch or so of rocking front to back. Side to side is fine. Think if I shim it a tad that would be okay? My only floors here are carpet.

Btw... it's a submersible water heater... can I have it completely underwater.. like controls and all?

Now... next step is?

Awesome. Enjoy stocking it and decorating it! That's the best part. :)

Add Water!

Well actually paint the back of the tank or add a background!

Never used that brand of heater so can't give a yay or nay... I've been using Visitherm Stealth heaters from day one. Submersible heater can be totally underwater, controls and all. On my 55's I run dual HOB filters with dual heaters-heaters are horizontal at the bottom under filter intake. Don't like to see anything in the tank except fishies and plants!

As for the stability on carpet; I 've read that some people remove carpet and put the tank stand on a hard surface. I rent so don't want to cut the new carpet that was installed before I moved in. I'm thinkin' once the tank is filled it'll stabilize; tank/stand/water/decor/substrate will be running around 700 pounds. Ought to squish the carpet and pad down almost flat/solid!

Don't worry about the carpet, it won't rock once you have all that water in the tank.

next step aquascaping then the water cycle...YaaaY

I would shim before filling. I believe jm1212 is calling his mix base stocking from the standpoint of it is a nice grouping to meet your request for input. You will still have room for others, but you could fill it in later.
