I want to know what you guys think of my tank. It is a little over a year old and is extremely clean. NO ALGAE ANYWHERE! I clean both side of the glass and do a 25-30 % water change every week. I don't know if you can help but if you look at my amozon sword plant it has many dieing leaves and it looks pretty bare because i had to cut alot of it out awhile back.

Also you know the space between the heater and the amozon sword plant. Well i have been wondering if it would be a good idea to put some thing there like plant or plants or driftwood or some kind of rock formation. Or is this a bad idea? Would the fish become unhappy if some of there swimming space got taken up with decor.

One more thing, someone told me that i can hide the heater behind the plants behind the amozon sword but would that mean the plants would touch the heater. I purposely put it in the corner of the tank because in the instruction manual it says not to let it touch plants, gravel, the bottom of the aquarium, or any decor. My guess is it would burn or discolor it because of the heat.

I though i heard that the vis- therm because it is made of platic instead of glass will not do this. Therefore can be placed behind the decor. Is this true? Also are they really accurate to 1 degree so you could just put it at whatever temp it says on the dial and it will be very very very very close to it.

My heater is set at 69 -65 because it was programed wrong. So 69-65 on mine is really about 80 degrees and i hate the fact i have to guess where to put it. Once i get the temp though it is fine.

hope you like my tank!

That looks pretty nice and well kept. The fish look healthy too.

African Cichlids love rocks, id suggest you make some rock formations for them to swim in and hide.

and a bigger tank. what is that a 29?
I agree......I believe you'll need a bigger tank soon. You have some potentially aggressive fish in there, so I'd definitely look at upgrading.

And I also suggest adding some rock to the tank. Alot of the fish you have are African Mbuna, which are rock dwelling fish.

What all fish do you have in the tank?

Is that a living stonni in there ?? if it is i have two trying to breed em lol

kool tank looks great !!

And i also have to agree you will need a bigger tank or will loose many fish . . i have the same problem my tank is overstocked bit it actually 105 gallons :S but i have had the tank for over a year and not too much agression only when the lion heads are breeding :)

Good luck with ya tank

Amanda

My 2 cents

Your amazon sword is probly suffering from being fed upon by the mbunas the best plants for african rift lake cichlids are java ferns and anubias they don't tast to well to the cichlids rift lake africans are primaraly herbaviours vegitarians. thye graze on the alge on the stones and plants and i do agree you need rocks flat stackable slate sandstone and some holey rock.

Sincerely Curtis

Nice shots, but you really should look at a bigger tank...
