Anybody have red bay snook? Petenia splendida

I saw two of these at a pet store and I'm thinking about picking them up because they get large, but have been reading that they aren't overly aggressive.

So I was just wondering if anyone on these boards has experience with them? Oh, if you have pics too that would be great!

not really aggressive but can handle itself when needed. Here is a picture of my 14" male.

And thank you for saving the thread lol. That's a gorgeous fish you have there!

One thing that concerns me about the fish is that some people have reported them being very messy. What's your experience been?

They say that they'll collect too much food with their basket mouth, then just spit it out when they realize they can't swallow it and that's what makes the mess. Also that their feces is very large?

I have never seen this fish spit out anything that has gone into his mouth. He eats pellets, krill and frozen food and has no problem eating any of it. Compared to my other brutes his feces is really not an issue.

...and it is SOME mouth these guys have.
