I am asking this on behalf of a coworker whom I've infected with the fish bug. oops

He is wondering if there are any online vendors who sell actual mangrove roots. Would anyone have any idea?

Many thanks :-)

If you are looking for just the "look" of the roots, you might want to find something fake, as mangroves cannot be harvested legally that way. If you are willing to spend the time, you could reasonably grow your own though.

Hope this helps!

This does help, thanks! I (and he) had no idea they were illegal to harvest. I guess he'll have to go with a look similar to it or knock-off.

Thanks!

I can collect mangrove driftwood locally (as long as the trees are dead, it's legal to harvest noncommercially) BUT — there's no way he's fitting real mangrove roots into a tank, unless he's got at least a 3' x 3' space, and you'd be doing some trimming to get them into that. The roots are of a sprawling habit and the clusters are plenty big enough to shelter large gamefish. He'll be much better off simulating the look with grapewood or something similar.
