I'm just curious . . .

Why do smaller tanks need more wattage per gallon vs larger tanks?

How much wattage is optimal for a 2.5L and 15L repsectively?

Hahaha. Yeah, Im reading his lighting section as we speak. The sad thing is I don't know what a "LUX" is.

On a side note, Rex is the man, he is very knowledgeable about this stuff. But unfortunately I'm too stupid to understand it all clearly!

lux = The International System unit of illumination, equal to one lumen per square meter

Just looked at the package for each of my lights and there is no lux rating on my lights...

yes well thats the hard thing to find it. one of the reasons why people use wpg is because the watts are on all packs.

i dont worry as much and go with the trail and error. ill try any plant out and see how it works in my tank.

Yeah, thats what Ive been doing too. My plants are flourishing, but my tank upstairs has brown algea growing on my low light plants and glass. Thought it maybe a problem of lights: 20watts over 15 Liters....

Just called my buddy Bun-Chan who works for National Panasonic and he says FL20SS N/18 only comes in 20 watts. I can't upgrade it higher... The florescent bulb anyway...

i said in your other topic that its prob only one amount of light bulb. you could always add another one or a different kind of bulb.

Yup, that was my puffer tank I was talking about in that thread on the first floor. Both of them [my tanks' lights] it seems can't have their bulbs switched out to higher watt bulbs. So I just have to upgrade them entirely.
