So today I finally picked up my Eheim pro 3e 2078, and so far I'm very pleased with the product, other than the fact that it is filled with only 2L ehfimech, and 2L ehfisubstrat pro, which were from my pro 2 2026. The flow rate on this filter is pretty amazing, and the ability to have 12 hour cycles, or wave making, abilities is AWESOME! The auto air purge is nice as well. We will see how this filter holds up over time. Next week I have 4L of substrat pro coming, which will fill out the filter quite nicely. One thing I noticed is that the white mat has become much thicker, and quite a bit stronger, and tighter woven. The few downsides I see so far are that it does not come with the spray bar upgrade, nor media. My discus are loving the new movement, and soon this tank will be clear as air. This is one big filter, and one expensive filter. I'll post a review in the equipment thread in a few months after I've had time to see how it runs.

Oh ... please post a review. I am going to purchase either the Pro III 2080 or Pro III 2078 ... i just don't know. On one hand I love the wavemaking feature, the 12 hr 2 flowrate cycle. But then there is the 2080 which has two inlets which means more efficient pickup of debry and re-circulation...

please hurry and post..., as i get paid in a few days and money sure burns a hole in my pocket fast ... :-P

This thing is a beast. Mine just came in the mail today. Its the size of a small child. Make sure you have the room. My media isnt here yet, but im running mine with just the pads and a filter pad i cut to fit for the time being. Its a bit pricey, but I found one on ebay for $250, shop around. Running in a sink with just hoses, it feels like a garden hose with max pressure. Media baskets are large to hold 2L of media each. The hose is about 8 feet, but I feel its too short for a filter designed for large tanks(ie 6 foot tanks). Single intake, single spray bar. dual voltage input to the 24v transformer brick. It has an interesting flow path but seems to make sense now. intake hose>motor head> coarse filter at top> directly to bottom> bottom basket>>middle baskets> top basket>polishing pad>pump>return hose
