Does anyone here use a pool filter as a filter for you aquariums. Someone posted this in the DIY forum, but didn't get many answers, and I am very interested in seeing if something like this will work well, and directions or ideas anyone has.

I know quite a few people use them on monster aquariums. For a really big aquarium they work fine. They even have diatom pool filters. I imagine that would keep any aquarium spotless. The normal sand filters work very well as they provide MEGA surfaces on the sand particles for bacterial growth. IMHO, I don't really think they are a viable solution to anything under about 400 gallons though.

before i got a wet/dry, my 720 gallon tank used an old pool filter. The tank was spotless, more so than it is now, but is was noisy.

They do for the inflatable pool kits that are the rage right now. Thank you! Just filled in a blank in the DIY plans in my head!

Put Some felt after your return sponge to help Polish the water befor it returns to the main tank...
When you see the water flow over the sponge and felt .take out the felt and put them in the wash...
