do you think I could add a porthole catfish (regular, not flagtail) to my 10G? do they need groups like cories?

portholes grow to around 4 inches long, so they would be to big for your tank.

they are acctually cousins of the corydoras family and like to be in groups.

they swim around the middle of the tank but go to the bottom to feed. flagtails are similar to the portholes but have the distinct white and brown tail and grow two inches longer; plus theyre my fav. catfish :D

well... I assumed 4" is not too big, but is pretty much the size limit for a fish going into a 10G. are they too active? I didn't really see anything on the net that said the needed groups, then again I didn't see much about them on the net. I knew they were cousins of the cory family so I thought i'd ask since corys are schooling fish. I wanted to get it since I want a single bottom dweller for my 10G, I was thinking of getting the hara hara catfish they have there but I decided aganist it since more than likely i'd never see it and a porthole would be pretty visible since they swim in the middle of the tank a lot. my tank is also exactly like their natural environment. guess i'm back to the drawing board.

they really need at least a 20 gallon high for three
sadly, my LFS has only one. I feel sorry for him now, not only is he alone he's also pretty pricey at $10. well, you know I'll be upgrading in the future to a 30G and my LFS doesn't get them in very frequently (about once every 3 months). maybe I could just get the one now, and then get 2 more when I upgrade and they become avalible again.

about 2"
