Algae problem

I have crushed Coral Substrate in my Aquarium and there is lots of brown Algae on the bottom side of the glass which I cannot reach as it's covered by the crushed coral. The only way that I can think of the moving the substrate and then cleaning it. Is there a better way to do this?
 
Nope, no better way. Use your gravel vac to move the substrate, that way you'll clean some of the excess waste there thats causing the brown algae.
 
I have the same problem. It's extremely frustrating. It's all over my fake plants, too. :(

I have just been cleaning it with a paper towel/old credit card, but it just grows back. I think it's only diatoms, and appearantly it goes away on it owns after a while. How long? I'm not sure.
 
Brown algae is generally caused by excess waste in the tank. Clean the tank first then do a large water change and filter clean (if needed). More frequent water changes will help.
