I'm having a tough time picturing duct tape on your Moneywort plant....
Are you sure?? Could it be a lead weight at the bottom of the plant? There are metal strips that help weigh plants down to the bottom of the aquarium.

LOL, duct tape? In any event, yes most people take the lead off their plants. Stem plants can be planted in on clump, but I separate them into pairs or trios and plant closely for density. They seem to respond favorably to that method.

my bad, i took it out and played with it, and its some sort of metal wrapped in duct tape. anyways, i got a bunch of 6 , so i divided it up 4 and 2, i kept the 4 attached to the lead weight, and tied the 2 to a stone thats in the tank. how fast do these things reproduce? they are in a community tank now, but would they be able to go into an oscar tank? if i get a good batch of them? thanx :)

Oscars love to EAT most plants... That should make tham happy for a short time, until they eat anything else in the tank. :) Oscars are my 'second favorite' fish...
