Okay, I finally have my tank back to normal, I posted about what I did a few weeks ago so I won't go into it, but I basically had to remove all of the water and substrate. Since I replaced everything, I had a minor (two day) diatom bloom, and a small amount of green algae that the snails took care of. I am going to consider this my "mini cycle", all of the param are in spec and the water has never been so clear, so I went shopping today.
Well I purchased my first coral, what I ended up getting was a zoanthid, BTW, thanks for the answers to my lighting questions last week. The polyps look great, they were all closed up when I bought them, but after I pulled them out of the bag and placed them in my tank it took about 10 min for them to start opening. I have to say it is completely amazing. I have done all sorts of research and looked at a lot of pictures, but to see them in the tank is awesome. This happens to be the most alive piece of rock I have in my tank as well. After the polyps started opening I pulled a chair up to my tank(like a little kid), The rock has a few featherdusters, some coralline, and as I was watching, something kind of popped out of the rock for a 1/2 second and then shot back in. About 3/4 to 1" long. Can't really describe it, some type of worm I guess. Anyway, pics soon, and thanks to everyone.
This is so cool.
Thanks again,
Shawn
