a "big" one means different things to different people. some here would consider a 40 gallon tank "big". i breed cichlids and consider anything under 75 on the small side. 'big' to me means 250 or more gallons.

your current stock needs a 125 minimum.

a flowerhorn would probably dismantle a blood parrot or severum even in a 125 gallon. Better tankmates for severums would be other South American cichlids like chocolate cichlds or some of the larger acaras.

you can probably keep one flowerhorn by itself in the tank, but definitely no blood parrots or anything else like that in there.

Flowerhorns can and are quite mean fish. I would suggest keeping it in a large aquarium by itself. I cleaned a tank at work with a flowerhorn in it and it is one mean fish. It went after my hand like a piranha would.
