I was told that certain brackish water fish like the Knight Goby can be acclimated to normal freshwater conditions and be fine in community tank...is that true and what precautions should I take?

as far as i know, the vast majority of Gobidae are brackish water species and while 'some' may be acclimated to freshwater, they do not thrive nor live their full lifespan in such conditions. a small number of gobies are fully adapted to freshwater environments. including the Asian river gobies (Rhinogobius spp.), the Australian desert goby (Chlamydogobius eremius), the European freshwater goby Padogobius bonelli, and Stiphodon aureorostrum recently found in Peninsular Malaysia.
