hi i was just wondering about the product Cycle. i kno that u cant actually "cycle" a tank with this stuff, but i was told it will help if u add some after you use medication, or add new fish to a tank. which i have been doing and i have not lost a fish. so does it actually do anything or am i just wasting money? thanks

It boosts the bacteria ,so it does help. Are you wasting your money? I guess that depends on how established is your tank and what kind of fish you have/are adding.

as of now the only thing i know of that works is bio spira.

i have added many fish and havent lost one so that might not be the best judgment if it works or not.

the overwhelming consensus seems to be that Biospira actually works and everything else seems to be snake oil.

i LOVE bio-spira, ive used it everytime i cycle a tank i never lost anyfish. but the thing i am wondering will cycle help me when i add fish or after i use harmful medication to the colony. i mean they can't just be selling me a bottle of water, it has to do something. what do u mean by snake oil?

i used cycle once a week for a year at 5$ a pop, then decided to stop and have actually had better water quality without it. i have no idea why and now have more money!

I think for the most part it is better not to drop chemicals in the water that are not necessary. That would include products like cycle. What they mean by snake oil is that it is just a useless product that does little or nothing to benifit your aquarium and yes there are many products on the market like this. You have to be careful what you buy and read the labels very carefully. They do not always do what they claim to do. I think the fish also perfer not to have all of that in thier water and just want good clean water.
