Has anyone had expericence with API's tap water filter? Is it ok for SW? Also found DIY for a PVC/floss/carbon gizmo that says you can use tap water in it for SW. Anybody seen or done this? Found on about.com under RO.

API's tap water filter may or may not be a good idea, depending on the quality of your tap water. If you have poor incoming water quality, the long term costs of using API's tap water filter will exceed that of buying and maintaining a RO or RO/DI unit.
