May sound like an odd question, but for someone looking to get a 150-gallon aquarium & having had recent knee surgery I'm in no position to be helping lift a tank of that weight. Nor do I own a truck to transport it.

I was wondering if any pet stores in Northern/Central NJ offer that service when customers purchase big tanks?

I once called a moveing company that had a 2 hour minimum to move a large tank. Not only did it cost me just $120 it was also insured during transport and the stand and tank where set in place in my home for me!! Plus I never even had to go to the store after purchase I just set it up so the store knew the name of the moving company and let them take my tank.

Where in Central NJ are you located?

hee hee.... that's funny. I would say you are in the northern part of the state and I'm in the central part.... I guess you are in the northern/central part of the state.... ;) and I am in the southern/central part...

I do not know of any stores in that area. I even had to Mapquest Bridgewater (I wasn't sure). Sorry...

Nah, Bridgewater/Somerville is definitely SOUTH Jersey :) (at least to someone who lives in Sussex County, lol).

ACTwisted, I have no idea whether they would travel that far, but Hackettstown Pet & Supplies' website says they offer tank setup and maintenance services in home or office http://www.hackettstownpet.com/service.html so you might want to call or email them. I was in their shop for the first time last week and I am impressed. The owner seems quite nice too.

Other than that, the only other pet store in that area that I can think of is Petco at the Somerville circle. No idea whether they do it. Perhaps if there are other LFS, you might want to give them a call and ask?

Good luck. Let us know what you find.

What about looking at something on Ebay that's close by. Just sort the listings by distance to your zip code. I know that most listings might say "pick up only" on a tank that big, but if they knew your situation, they might deliver for a small fee. However, I would suggest that before you even bid on a tank, to e-mail the seller and ask first about delivery.

Perhaps you could ask a friend or relative with a pick-up truck to bring it home for you.

Luck,
Michele
