My tank has been up and running for about 3 years now, but I still consider myself a "newbie". My questions are in regards to fish behavior, stocking, and diet. It has been a while since I visited this board, but I always come back here when I need some great input, or in this case maybe reassurance.
I think that my fish are behaving properly, but I would just like a little feedback. My upside-down catfish hide all day. One hides in a rock cave and the other lives in the bottom of one of my plastic plants. I think that they only come out at night. My 3 Cories behave similarly, in that they hang out together under a silk plant/bush all day and rarely move.
As for my gouramis, they tend to stick to opposite ends of the tank but get pretty happy when I put flakes in the water. I am planning on buying a new fake plant that is taller and will float a bit on top of the water, as I read that that is good for them. True or false?
Diet - I give the tank a pinch of flakes three times a day, as well as two small cory wafers and 1/2 a large algae wafer at night. I also hang a slice of zuchini from a veggie clip on the side of the tank.
Stocking - I am considering adding another couple of whiteclouds or maybe neons. I recently lost a whitecloud and the top of the water is not very crowded. Catfish on the bottom, Swordtail, Gouramis and Tetras in the Middle, Whiteclouds at the top, Otos where-ever they choose at the moment
Water changes - 60% about every 10 days.
