My LR has been turning a darker brown. is this just an increase in coraline algae? I will try and post a pic.

Sounds like Diatom algae...If the tank is reletivly new, you will suffer diatom blooms untill the tank starts to mature...

Or, it could be that you dont have enough flow going through the tank...

Does it look like a dusting covering the substrate and rock? or is more a slime algae?

Do you have a new set-up? That looks pretty normal to me.

yes it is new, it has been up for about a month maybe a bit more. That pic does not do the brown stuff justice. My camera is old and i can not get an acurate shot.

It is probably just diatom algae...How long has this been up and running for mate?

Niko

P.S...we just posted at same time...If its new, it will be then...every tank has to go through the ugly stage before the beauty comes out...

I remember my rock had sort of a brownish copper glaze on most of it. It just went away with time (and more lighting).

it should go away in time just part of the normal algae cycle
