Hello,

This morning I went to feed my fish. I noticed the albino cory swimming along the front glass. When he turned, I saw that he had a red bruise or growth between to of the barbs on the right side of his face. He ate after I fed him, and looks active. Any ideas??

In time, they may. Cories have been known to wear their barbs off in tanks w/ coarse substrate (usually gravel), leading to major feeding problems for them.
Is it possible that he just got one wedged between stones? If so, I'd just keep an eye on it & the others. If it starts to happen w/ the others, you may need to consider adding some sand...

I think I might just do sand anyway. Being that the cories are my favorite fish in my tank, I might as well make it as comfortable for them as possible. Thanks for the help.

Well, got home from work yesterday, and it looks like a fungus. it's white, cottony stuff covering his mouth and barbs. I picked up some permafin fungus treatment. Any ideas if this fish is going to live or not?

Well, The bottle suggests one dose daily for 7 days. I have a 26 gallon tank, and the dosage is 1 tsp per 10 gallons. I'm putting in three tsps. per treatment, and am going to try to do it every 18 hours. I like this albino, he's very friendly and comical. I'd like to help him if i could.

I personally wouldn't say it's necessarily the gravel. Cats are usually the first to show signs of any problematic water conditions. Have you checked your params lately? There could be an issue there. Please keep up updated..

No luck. Got home from work yesterday, and she was dead. THe fungus spread all over her mouth. Oh well.
Thanks for the advice though!
