Can you guys share some experiences with either the 14000k and the 20000k bulbs and which brings out the colors of your corals?

I've read the 20's won't grow coral as well as the 14's. True?

I've read you don't need actinics with the 20's, but do with the 14's. True?

The 20's are too blue and wash out the colors. True?

I have 10000k's and they seem too yellow even with the actinics. Not very good colors compared to the lfs. The lfs has pc's in their zoa tanks and when I bring them home, the colors aren't the same.

Thanks,
Tom

ok 20,000 kelvin are all acitic and the tank will be all blue. I bought the on accident and did not like it. Some corals will not like it but for the most part you would still be ok. 14,000 will be the next best thing closter to white but some blue will help bring out the colors...

In my tank i habe 10,000 kelvin with 2 - 96w acitic bulbs and i have good color... i would like 14,000 kelvin better i think though

Ok 6,500K is best for coral growth but is a nasty yellow green color, 10,000K is very white, 14,00K is what I run with no acentics as it's hung over my nano with no hood to prevent heat, nice color and still some growth, 20,00K is very blue and least promotes coral growth.

Idealy you would run either a 6500 or 10000 with acintics but if you are only runing halides I really like the Australux 14000 it gives a soft blue and really allows my corals to flourece.
