Substrate

Well I ordered some substrate and I might have to return it once it gets here but wanted to check with you guys first:help: I did order two 15lb bags of Flourite and one bag of Rio Grande Gravel well when I ordered the gravel I didn't see it could be used for Chiclids but I looked on a different site and it said it will not buffer the tank enough for chiclids its to neutral? Will it be OK for a planted community tank? Or should I return it?

they mention it "will not support african cichlids " which the statement in itself may not be true.

if you are looking for a substrate to raise pH...but the catch is..not all african cichlids need to have the pH raised.

what is your pH?

how big is the tank?

flourite and gravel is fine for a planted tank.

if you are concerned about buffering then research the fish and see if they need to have the buffer altered.

Sorry I didn't explain I have a 36 corner bowfront which I'm just getting things before setting it up. I did see what they said about it won't support cichlids but like you said might not be true. I want to keep my PH in the 7 range. Sorry very new to FW Very experienced in Reef Tanks.
