My husband being the sweetheart he is bought an aqua fern for me at petco... It's not unreasonable to think that something called aqua fern goes in the aquarium, right? I find out that it's a terrarium plant! My question is now, do I plant it in potting soil like a regular houseplant(it is quite pretty) or do I find a shallow dish, and plant it in gravel like bamboo? I would like to get my money's worth out of it!

Did you see a picture that made you think it was a terrarium plant? Some stores label Java Ferns with that name.

Well, it read on the container for aquarium or terrarium... I was hoping it was a species able to be submersed. Trichomanes javanicum

I just noticed my petsmart just started carrying these plants, went in yesterday since they just remodled the fish section, now they have 'aquarium plants' individually packed in plastic tubes. I was going to buy one but decided to snap a pic of the scientific name on the package with my cell phone. After researching today looks like they arent suited for aquariums.

False advertising continues...

It's enough to just make you scream, eh? Well, the plant has managed to pollute my tank... I'm getting it out of there! I'll try to plant it like bamboo and see if it lives. I'm definitely going to be more careful in the future!
