I've been learning a new "language" that involves the common car horn.
Horn usage is very convenient for the person in the car; I mean why bother with a doorbell? I've learned from a neighbor two doors down that less than two blasts of the horn means she is still in an acceptable mood, and beyond three, things are not going good at all. And after five or so blasts her children slowly hear the new language and respond by slowly walking outside. The horn language then subsides followed by incoherent screeches of yet another unfamiliar dialect...

Is anyone else learning this form of language?

:thud:

Hahaha! I have always wanted to pass a law that requires car horns to be as loud INSIDE the car as they are outside.... perhaps this "language" might just become a little more...... restrained??
:D

I've always found that motorcycle horns are about the right pitch and volume. Still, whenever I've used one (just a quick button push, mind you), you'd be surprised at how many car drivers jerk and spin their heads with that look that clearly says, "Duuuuhhhhhh, heeeeeyyyyy, I didn't know you were even there, motorcycle dude...." :mad2: #1 reason why I never bought a motorcycle while living in southern california.

and as well as that, i think that if i a police officer is allowed to sneak up behind you and hit his siren, he should hear it as loud. im not bitter or anything, of course.

Don't break the law and he won't tap the siren.

Personally, I think even tapping the horn is disturbing the peace. Horns on vehicles are intended to alert other drivers when they make an unsafe manuver. They are not intended for "Look at me!" or "WE WON!!!" or "Get out of the hous NOW or you're grounded for a month!!!". They are also not meant to mean "It's 5AM! You made me wake up early to pick you up, so GET OUT HERE NOW!"

In case you couldn't tell, I hate people that use their horn as a signal. Get your lazy butt out of the car, walk to the door and KNOCK!

Haha.

I hit my horn more times accidentally than I do intentionally...and usually scare myself.
