I have a 2.8 wpg 10 gallon planted tank. I currently have a DIY bottle of CO2, at about 1 bubble per 10 seconds. Since this is kind of slow, I would like to add another bottle of CO2. Do you guys this will be overkill? I just ordered Flourish Excel and I'm wondering if I could use both in conjunction. What would be the most effective method of using them together?

And I'm thinking about getting this CO2 diffuser for my CO2 system: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18478/si1501565/cl0/plantgroco2systembubblecounter Does anyone have any experience with it? If I do use two CO2 bottles, does this diffuser have two places to connect air tube lines?

Thanks.

1x 2liter bottle is enough on your 10 gallon tank, and i highly recommend using that diffuser with DIY setup, it works really well.

The ladder has only 1 tubing, if you want to use 2x bottle buy a T-Valve at any LFS, i would not recommend the plastic ones. then change the bottle alternate each week.

I'm using a 1.25 liter bottle right now. If I use the excact mixture of 2 cups sugar and 1/2 teaspoon or so of yeast, would that release the same amount of CO2 into my tank as using that mixture with a 2 liter bottle?

What would account for my CO2 releasing at such a slow rate? Would it be the size of the bottle? I filled the water up all the way right underneath the tubing. Does amount of surface area affect the rate of CO2 production? Could it be the pH or other water chemistry? Or is it the temperature (~60 degrees F). In your experience, how frequent do the bubbles come out with a DIY CO2?

Yes.

depends on your mixture, did you check if you have leaks?
Water level at the bottle should be atleast 2-3 inches away from the tubing.
2-3 bps at first 4 days then after that it begin to slower down, so thats why i recommend to change the bootle every week.

What is the ambient temp your fermentation canister is at? Yeast does best around 75*F, if the temp is colder it will reproduce slower, and if it gets much above 110*F or so it will die.

Thanks for the replies. Its about 60ish degrees now, but the weather should be warming up as it is March. :) I have been using my CO2 mixture for about a week, so I might as well get to changing it soon.

Would using a full teaspoon, or close to a full teaspoon of yeast increase the CO2 production, if only to suffer the consequence of a shorter yield period?
