On pagoda cup this AM was a opaque greyish/white mucus stuff. The stuff looked puffy and when I waved my hands to create more current it came off. The grey-blue coating on the pogoda came off as well exposing the white coral skeleton. The polyups are still there. Is this a fungus and would a dip cure it?

Do you have a before and after pic. At first I thought it was just going to the bathroom but the fact that the skeleton is showing does not sound good.

What are your exact paramiters.

My Amon, Nitrates, Phos are at 0 Nitrates are about 10-15. Salinity 1.025, PH and Alk are both in the normal range. I do not have a before picture and do not have my camera here, being borrowed. It looks like greyish mucus that comes off in the current but when it is brushed off the skeleton is visible.

Ok normal range tells us nothing what are your ph alk and cal levels. It is important that you give us ALL the information for a good answer.

How long have you had the coral?

My PH is 8.3, calc is 420 my Alk is in the normal range. My test does not give an exact number, but I have coraline algae everywhere. I have had this coral for about 4 months. It is under 150 MH 14k. It has been in the exact same spot. During the day the coral seemed fine. When the lights came on is when I noticed the grey mucus coating. It was not over the entire coral about maybe 1/4 of it. It was on the back and went around to the front and everywhere the mucus was the thin blueish coating of the coral was gone. Almost like an acid.

Your water sounds fine but, and I say this without seeing pics, I think your coral is experiencing some die off. You say the polyps seem fine so it sounds like the fleshy skin around the polyps is the part that is suffering. Since the turbinaria polyps are able to consume matter what ever has caused this condition has attacked the vulnerable part of the coral. I doubt whether a dip is going to fix this. Something damaged the skin and infection has set in. How is your flow around this piece? It should be moderate and it will benefit from feeding. If this condition continues to spread and the polyps start melting down as well, as much as it would hurt my soul, you had better consider ditching it before it pollutes your system or effecting neighbours. Sorry for the bad news.
