My tanks still cycling with my 3 Cherry Barbs, so adding fish is still a ways off. After 10 days, the ammonia finally dropped to 0, and Nitrate is on it's way up, ut I'm assuming it'll be a while before the nitrite drop to 0...

So I've been checking out what's available in my LFS, and the neons have caught my eye. From what I've been able to find on google, it looks like the neons and cherry barbs agree on water conditions. My big question of the day is will the be compatible with each other?

If the Cherry Barbs and Neons will be an acceptable combination, what total quantites would you folks reccommend for a 10 gal moderatly planted tank?

Lastly, the neons in the LFS always have a much brighter blue than in any pictures I've found on the net. Is this just the photograph or does their color get enhanced by black light?

THanks.

Cherry Barbs are known to be quite peaceful, infact a tad shy if not kept in groups of about 6. Compatability will not be an issue with Neons, but givena 10 gallong tank, you may want to consider just having a tank of 6 or so Cherry's.
It's easy to overstock, but try to keep to a 1" of fish to 1 gallon of water.

Congrats on getting your ammonias down!

I would either get just neons or just the cherry barbs but they are compatible.

the main concern with the neons is that they are rather sensitive fishes, and I would make sure my tank is not just cycled, but very established before adding them.
