Does anyone have any suguestions as to any good automatic feeders. I have a Daily Double II that I got at wall mart but I dont like it. It only feeds twice a day and only every 12 hours. Im looking for somthing with more control, that I can set the time of feeding and that will feed 3 times a day during the day but not just every 8 hours. I live in a small town with no lfs so I cant go ask them. I need one because I go out of town a lot. Iv also tried wardlys weekend and vacation food which helps but is not the same as feeding regular food. Im tired of coming home to fish trying to eat each other after being gone for a few days. Also I need one that can feed a 55g this daily doubble 2 is realy only good for 20g and smaller. If any one owns a feeder they like let me know what kind it is, thanks.

I've got four Eheim 3581 Feed Air Auto Feeders. They work like a champ. Food stays dry, program up to 4 feedings at specific times using an LCD digital display. Also, you can "double" each of the four, that is, have it feed, then feed 1 minute later for a specific feeding event.

I have one feeding a 100g tank, and it does the job nicely.

Battery life is about 6 months. They work so well that whenever I load them up for a vacation, I forget about them when I get back and simply let them keep feeding the tanks for the next month or two.

PetSolutions.com and Saltycritter.com and PetSmart.com have them for $39.99 right now, but I'd go with PetSolutions. They've given me great service, always been 100% accurate with their orders, and only market things that work. These are good prices. I've seen these sell for over $60.00. at various online sources. BTW, I got mine on sale when PetSolutions had them on sale for $29.99. Heck, $39.99 is a good deal.

Drs Foster & Smith has it for $37.49, but they are out of stock and will have no more until late April. Drs F&S have been good to me in an overall sense, but I've had incorrectly filled orders and defective items...they've always honored their return policy, but it's a pain...I'd rather have it right the first time, all the time.

how do you mount them?

I have one but don't know how to attach it to the tank. Do you have to cut a hole in the hood?

I've got a 4" wide gap in the backsplash of my 100gal tank, with the feed end of the Eheim Feed Air directly over this.

For the little 10gal tanks, I just feed normally until vacation time. Then I just remove front end of the hood (it's a Wally World 10gal combo aquarium kit) and place the feeders on top so they can dump into the water.

These tanks are on timers so that the filters are off at feeding time.
