is it possible to mix different live rock types in the same tank? Is this safe or stupid?

Our tank is a mix of different LR types. We have some lace rock (bought dry as base rock), some Fiji, and a couple small pieces of Tonga branch.

What types of rock do you mean?

If you mean things like fiji, reef bones, indo, aquacultured...then yes, its fine..

NIko

Yeah, I mean like Pacific and Atlantic live rock... samoan, tonga...anything yeah just different types.

thats okay?

what couldn't be mixed if anything?

lime is alright but i wouldnt suggest it really t messes with the ph a bit. also lava rock is usually fine( think of Hawaii) but still not the best idea. as for all the "live rocks" they can be mixed unless your wanting to make a biotope.

thanks!

No, I want to make a fish only tank (with some clean up crew)... the live rock prices are different at my LFS so I was seeing if I could mix different types. i see it doesn't matter too much then.

And I used to live in Hawaii for 3 years... I'm planning on moving back in 15 months... so I know what you mean! I love the fish there!
