More monies and my projects.

Posted 11-14-2009 at 1:24 PM by Eupterus

I picked up more hours working at the nursing home. I'm really nervious about my new tasks and hope that I am up to them.
On the bright side assuming I can keep my metabolism issues* at bay, I will increase my income and get some aquarium setup goals finished faster.
Current list:
Filter parts for four filters.
Heater for 29 gal
Heater for sick tank.
Heater for 20 gal.
Upgrading 3 tanks, 10=20, 20= 29, 30= 40.
New stand for 40 gal because it damaged...

42 gallon diy cube from scratch

Posted 11-08-2009 at 2:39 PM by snailrider (SnailRider gets AC)

Built this tank system from scratch. Glass was from Mervins going out of business. 3/8 plate 22 x 22 inches. The moulding was purchased to trim the tank.

Stand was built out of plywood and 2x6's then trimmed with store bought pieces.

The rock, this is man made also, using concrete, sand and oyster shells. This is by far the best rock I have made. At time of picture, this rock has been made for one week, and is in the saltwater.

Some live sand was added...

Day 1

I've had a male betta for about 3 weeks now and he has been living in a 1 gallon bowl. His name is fishy and I got him from a friend that was moving away. Now that he has sat for awhile I decided it was time for an upgrade. Yesterday I bought a 5 gallon aquarium kit from the LFS, it looked nice, so I bought it. For only $40 it was a good deal. I also bought a female betta. I got the tank set up but then i had to go, so I left Fishy (the male betta)...

RIP Lucy

Posted 11-01-2009 at 6:39 AM by BarbEgirl

I have been really sick with some mystery abdominal pain and went from bad to worst today......and I slept all day. When I finally came out it was late and all the trick'or treatin was done. My husband told me that I lost a fish and he "took care of it". I usually spazz out just a bit. I already knew it was Lucy. She was one of my original 6 tiger barbs of which there were only two left. I lost the first one in September and started on this crazy hunt to learn more and figure...

Lucy in the sky with diamonds.....

Posted 10-23-2009 at 9:25 PM by BarbEgirl

actually she's in the tank still but she's happy... today she's lively and rushed for some grub. I was very happy to see that. Her mouth isn't swollen anymore and what is left on her mouth is very clear looking. When I was really watching closely I noticed that a few other fish who didn't appear to have the fungus have a little clear speck on top of their mouths also. I'm glad my fish guy told me to treat the entire tank. But I wonder.... where did this come from in the first place? I wonder...
