I wanted a 29 gal and am still in the market. Our local thrift store down the street had one. I kept watching it, but it was beat up with chips on the sides, and the price was high for the condition.
I'm glad I let it go now.
Lately I passed up a 100 gal for $50...Really tempting but I had to think realistically and the only spot for a larger tank is next to my 55 gal setup at my parents house in the cellar. If if it's not acrylic and I can't haul it down stairs, not use putting myself at risk. I'll probably "hit myself" later when the timing is right where I have a more permanent residence and can take in such a nice deal. Such is life right?...Someone else has probably already snapped up that bargain.

The substrate will be black and it will have a combination of plants (fake) and rocks. I would like to put in the tank 4 Rams, 2 each lof 2 different colors. As an example 2 Ruby Rams and 2 Blue Rams. I might also take 2 of the Angels from my 55 gallon and possibly 2 small schools of Tetras. Of course I will also have some bottom cleaners such as min i Albino Corys or Clown Loaches (I know, they get big) or Yoyo Loaches. What do you think about it? Yes, I would really like another 55 gallon, but I don't have enough wall space left for a 4 foot tank

I was in shock when I saw all three were still alive! These are hearty tough little fish! I am so happy they made it here alive:) Now they are in a tank full of Rams and Pond snails so they can eat until their little hearts are content. Here is a picture of one of them. They are fast little guys:) Sorry not the best pic. This camera takes awful indoor pics.

I am trying to rear sparkling gourami fry and keep failing. I think it's the lack of early food. I caught the fry eating tiny swimming organisms in the water but there aren't many and the frozen BBS were to small still and they all died. So next time I am going to try to be prepared and get some live cultures. But I had a bad experience with them last time.

I purchased a microworm culture off ebay for some guppy fry a while back. I fed the fry microworms and they were eating and growing but then started getting sick. All the guppies in the tank ended up getting sick and dying. They all got some long thin white worm that was attached to the gills and killed them. My hillstream loach never got infected and was fine. Could this have been caused by some hitch hiker parasite in the worms or just something that spread from guppy to guppy and was always there from the fish store which is where the parents came from and yes they ended up going in the same tank.

So pretty much what I want to know is how safe are the small cultures, I am not worried about Baby Brine shrimp because you can get them frozen I am talking the tiny newly hatched fry stuff I would have to use to make the fry survive.

I just got crocea clam and want to if lighting is enough or I need to upgrade? I heard T-6 is stronger then T-5 and T-5 is the min you should use for Clams. Change about 4-5 gallons everyweek and add Part A and Part B everyweek after every water change. Thanks for any input.

well it's actually 11.38 gallons according to the volume calculator, lol. It was in my neighbor's trash so i grabbed it. Some of the silicone on the outside was peeling so i scraped a bit of it off, do i need to scrape ALL of it off around the parts im resealing? It holds water (i tested it) but i wanted to reinforce the outer seams (this tank is older than i am according to the label). The inner seams are perfect. What type (brand, etc) of silicone should i use?
Now for the fun part. I'm looking for suggestions on anything from stocking to decorating. I definitely want some interesting stock, maybe something i've never kept before. I also have to decide if i want it planted, rocks or driftwood, and of course gravel or sand. Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance! :)

Have you ever just had one of those weeks? I mean a week ago, my husband and I were awakened at 1230 am by our 4 year old son "barking" and crying. He went to bed fine and 4 hours later he woke up with this awful cough and a 105 F fever. Off to the emergency room to find out he had the croup and pneumonia (this after the h1n1 a month ago). He gets a shot in the behind (he was NOT real happy about that), a prescription, and told to stay home from preschool for a minimum of 3 days (he was not real happy about that either). Anyway, I keep him home. Saturday I send out 8 packages via priority mail. The small ones make it there in the 3 days they are suppose to. The 2 larger packages take their good old time about it. I mean I had one that was going to the next state over and it took 4 days (the buyer accused me of lying about sending it, filed a paypal dispute, escalated it to a claim, and has refused to let it go even though the package is there). Now they claim what I sent was not working and/or not even in the package (a fiasco all the way around). The good news in this part is the other large package contained 3 yo yo loaches that traveled for 5 days before they made it to another east coast state. They are alive and well! Yeah! Next I order frontosa and there is a problem with my shipment and 10 of the 15 are received dead. The seller and I are working that out. All the while, my 8 year old daughter is getting up every morning "hoping" to be sick and running a fever so she too can stay home. She has not been sick at all and has to go to school (she is about as happy as her brother at this point). In the mean time, my husband is getting ready to go out of town for 6 days to bear hunt. Now I don't know how many of you are married, but when I say he is getting ready I mean: He is asking me where this is and where that is, and this needs washed, and etc..... So I am trying to get our camper stocked for a 6 day trip for him. This has to include clothes (enough for 3 weeks because he might get wet, it might be cold, it might be hot.....), food he knows how to fix, snacks...we must have lots of those, etc....I think you get the picture. Don't get me wrong, he is a wonderful hubby and makes stands and buys tanks and does plumbing - so I am not really complaining! I talked to my oldest daughter today (23 years old) and she told me she will be home for Thanksgiving!! That is awesome, I haven't seen her in over 2 years. My hubby finally left for camp this morning. My son went to preschool today, my daughter went to school....I now have a big Thanksgiving dinner to plan and I have no clue what to do at this point (it is way too quiet).

If you made it through all of that, I thank you for reading. It really has been one topsey turvey week!
