no... the air bubble analogy just was to explain how he pops back up to the top like a bobber..... he just stops swimming once he hits the bottom and just floats (rather quickly) back up to the top of the tank and hangs out there for an hour or so....

i would say that at least 75 percent of the time if you buy a female livebearer at a pet store they are already pregnant.... If by chance yours was not pregnant, it is very possible that your male got to her in those few days... they dont really worry about getting to first or second...
